In less than a month, I'm chuffed to be speaking at the Spirits of Place event in Liverpool, organised by John Reppion.
I'm speaking with David Southwell, fellow landscape punk and Hookland chronicler about the work we do and our approach to landscape/place writing, weird fiction and more. Here's the blurb:
The landmarks of the Calderstones and the Allerton Oak show how history, both communal and prosaically personal, mixes with our shared mythic reality. Through the lens of landscape punk, we look how engaging with the nexus points of place can become an act of re-enchantment.
There are loads of other great speakers attending, including Adam Scovell who runs the excellent Celluloid Wicker Man website, and the horror legend Ramsey Campbell (I'd recommend reading this very intelligent analysis of his work from the LA Review of Books here.)
If you're in the Liverpool area, please come! It's going to be a great day.
